What SpecSprout does
SpecSprout helps users structure product evidence, identify unresolved manufacturing requirements, calculate planning-oriented readiness scores, make product decisions and create manufacturer handoffs. The service is a development aid; it does not replace qualified engineering, testing, certification, compliance or legal professionals.
No engineering, safety, certification or legal approval
Readiness scores, AI-generated analysis, suggestions, requirement states and manufacturer briefs are not engineering approval, a safety certification, a regulatory declaration, laboratory validation, legal advice or a guarantee of manufacturability. Users remain responsible for obtaining qualified confirmation where a requirement needs it.
Account responsibility
You must provide accurate account information, protect credentials and sessions, and use only accounts and workspaces you are authorized to access. SpecSprout may invalidate sessions or restrict an account where needed to protect users, the service or third parties.
Your product work remains yours
SpecSprout does not claim ownership of your underlying product concept merely because it is analyzed or stored in the service. You must have the rights needed to upload and process your content. The service receives only the limited permission necessary to host, process, transmit, back up and return that content through SpecSprout and its configured providers.
Confidentiality
Non-public customer product content is treated as confidential operational data. SpecSprout does not sell it or use it to build advertising profiles. Disclosure is limited to configured providers needed to operate requested features, people or suppliers you deliberately share with, and circumstances reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal obligations. A bespoke NDA or DPA applies only when it has actually been agreed in writing.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid subscriptions, where enabled, use Stripe-hosted checkout and billing-management surfaces. Raw card details are not stored by SpecSprout. Current plan prices, trial configuration, renewal behavior, cancellation behavior and billing rules are shown in the live section above and in the in-app Billing & plans screen. Provider billing state and verified webhooks determine paid entitlement server-side.
Free-plan fallback
When a paid entitlement ends, the account falls back to the Free plan rather than deleting existing product data. Existing data remains available for access, export or deletion even if the workspace is above the normal Free-plan creation/storage allowance; new activity can remain limited until usage is reduced or the account upgrades.
Service availability and changes
Hosting, AI, authentication, email and billing can depend on external providers and networks. Temporary outages, provider changes, rate limits and maintenance can affect availability. Material commercial changes should be communicated appropriately before they take effect, subject to applicable law and the final reviewed terms.
Account suspension and termination
SpecSprout may restrict or terminate access for serious security threats, fraud, unlawful use, repeated abuse, attacks on the service, attempts to evade product limits, or other material violations of the applicable terms. Mandatory legal rights and the final reviewed notice/appeal process remain controlling where applicable.
AI and third-party information
AI output is probabilistic and may be incomplete or wrong. Supplier statements, uploaded documents and AI suggestions must be verified before they are treated as reliable evidence. Third-party services are governed by their own availability, security and contractual terms.
Warranty and liability
The exact warranty exclusions, liability cap, excluded-loss categories and mandatory consumer protections depend on the seller, customer type and governing law. Point 11 intentionally does not fabricate those provisions. They must be completed and legally reviewed before broad commercial launch, and nothing in these draft terms is intended to waive a right that cannot lawfully be waived.
Privacy
Account, cloud, evidence, AI, security and billing data handling is described in the Privacy Policy. Security practices and vulnerability reporting are described on the Security page. The Trust Center collects current ownership, AI-provider, encryption, retention, subprocessor and DPA information.
